What is Thermage Non-Surgical Skin Tightening?

Thermage delivers radiofrequency energy to heat collagen, a structural protein located in the deep layers of the skin, to tone and tighten the skin. Thermage helps build and contract collagen, which in turn tightens the skin for a more youthful appearance and healthier skin.

Thermage® stimulates the renewal of new collagen through the use of radiofrequency technology. This technology heats the collagen rich layers of the skin to help tighten existing collagen and stimulate the formation of new collagen. This process results in the following benefits:

The Thermage experience is often described as a deep heating or mild pinching sensation. The new handpiece has led to significantly less discomfort.

Still, oral pain medication and a topical anesthetic may be administered before treatment if needed. Many of our patients utilize the Pro-Nox device during their Thermage procedure, which is a controlled blend of nitrous oxide and oxygen, it is very safe and our patients are comfortable during the entire Thermage procedure.

How long does it take to perform Thermage?

The Thermage procedure is a completely non-invasive, safe treatment that is performed by Dr. John Serrão.  It takes about 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the size of the area being treated. If you request a topical anesthetic, please allow an extra 30 to 45 minutes for adequate numbing.

What is the cost of Thermage?

The cost of any procedure varies from patient to patient dependent on the level of correction that is needed.  All of our fees will be discussed with you during your consultation and package pricing is offered.  You will find our fees to be very fair and competitive for the Orlando area.

What are the downtime and risks of Thermage?

There is no downtime with Thermage, your can go right back to your normal activities.

Thermage side effects are rare, but can include swelling, redness, blisters, peeling, bumps or dimpling. If a side effect occurs, it is usually temporary.

When will I see results from my Thermage treatment?

Immediate results are visible, and improve over time. Measurable tightening and contouring improvements appear gradually over a two to six month time period following a single treatment session.  The procedure also stimulates your body’s natural healing process, which produces more collagen over time.

How long will the results of Thermage last?

The Thermage procedure immediately tightens existing collagen and stimulates new natural collagen production for up to six months following the treatment. Unpublished reports by experienced cosmetic doctors indicate that results may last for years and are based on the patient’s natural aging process.

The Thermage treatment can be repeated if further improvement is desired and when you begin to see the skin tone getting a little looser again.  Many of our patients do Thermage every 18 to 24 months to maintain the results.

Who is a good candidate for Thermage?

Thermage may work best for people who require tightening of the skin on the face and neck with mild to moderate laxity.

Thermage body contouring candidates should have loose or crepey skin in the lower abdomen and includes women who have had children. Women with flabby upper arms, inner thighs and buttocks may also be candidates. Thermage also works great on the crepey, loose skin above the knees.
